Firmware update failure on Intel based apple Mac computer
Most of the firmwares are updateable, by doing so hardware performance and features are enhanced. Not only this GUI and battery life are also changed to a considerable extent. Several such updates are provided and can be downloaded from for Intel based mac computers. But, in certain situations the system may behave abruptly and error messages may be generated while installing these updates.
Basically it is because of the partition scheme issues, due to which you may have to delete disk data and then repartition it. However, if backup is not able or available for restoring data, data recovery mac is used for complete data recovery.
Say when you try to install firmware update on Intel based mac computer, the attempt fails and you receive a message as “unexpected error occurred (o); unable to upgrade firmware”. Whereas in some cases, it might also happen that power button is held and the system starts up normally after beeping once, however the firmware update fails.
The above situation arises, on using partition scheme other than the standard partitioning scheme, like using fdisk. In order to comply with firmware update, Intel based apple mac computer require GUID partition scheme
For sorting out this problem , first you need to find out the partition scheme your hard disk is using with the help of disk utility. If the partition is something other than GUID partition, then for installing update one of the following method can be used-
- A bootable external disk with correct GUID partition scheme, with startup disk preferences can be used to start the system
- Start system using Mac OS X installation disk and then change partition scheme with disk utility. Partition is to be erased and then Mac OS X reinstalled.
Restore data back from backup and incase if not there, data recovery mac can do the work of restoring deleted files or files lost due to erased partition. It applies its high end extensive scanning algorithm and recovers data efficiently.
